Human parainfluenza virus type 3 transcription in vitro: role of cellular actin in mRNA synthesis.
Purified ribonucleoprotein complexes of human parainfluenza virus type 3 (HPIV-3) virions required, in addition to the viral proteins, soluble cytoplasmic proteins from uninfected cells for the synthesis of mRNAs in vitro. In contrast to Sendai virus transcription, in vitro RNA synthesis from HPIV-3 ribonucleoprotein complexes was not stimulated significantly by purified tubulin. Moreover, cyto...
متن کاملInvolvement of actin microfilaments in the replication of human parainfluenza virus type 3.
Several studies indicate that paramyxoviruses require a specific cellular factor(s) for transcription of their genomic RNAs. We previously reported that the cellular cytoskeletal protein actin, in its polymeric form, participates in the transcription of human parainfluenza virus type 3 (HPIV3) in vitro. In the present study, we investigated the role of the polymeric form of actin, i.e., the act...
متن کاملRole of nucleolin in human parainfluenza virus type 3 infection of human lung epithelial cells.
Human parainfluenza virus type 3 (HPIV-3) is an airborne pathogen that infects human lung epithelial cells from the apical (luminal) plasma membrane domain. In the present study, we have identified cell surface-expressed nucleolin as a cellular cofactor required for the efficient cellular entry of HPIV-3 into human lung epithelial A549 cells. Nucleolin was enriched on the apical cell surface do...
متن کاملComplete Genome Sequences of Two Human Parainfluenza Virus Type 3 Isolates Collected in Brazil
Here, we present the complete genome sequences of two human parainfluenza virus type 3 (HPIV-3) isolates collected from hospitalized infants suffering from acute respiratory disease. These are the first complete genome sequences of HPIV-3 originating from Brazil.
متن کاملHuman Parainfluenza Virus Type 3 in Wild Nonhuman Primates, Zambia
Human parainfluenza virus type 3 (HPIV3) genome was detected in 4 baboons in Zambia. Antibody for HPIV3 was detected in 13 baboons and 6 vervet monkeys in 2 distinct areas in Zambia. Our findings suggest that wild nonhuman primates are susceptible to HPIV3 infection.
